Hello, I’m Michael Koblentz and I recently became one of Nigel’s students. I learned the moves at age 11, but didn’t start playing rated events during my college days. I became a Candidate Master in 1977, but then career and family left little spare time for tournament chess.
Now retired, I have more time and have been playing and teaching full time for five years. Shortly after becoming a pupil of Nigel’s, I became the 2012 New Jersey Open Seniors Champion, with a performance rating of over 2200.
