Progress with the Midgame

This recent game shows some progress with regards to the transition to the midgame. Although the opposition in this game was somewhat weak, the right plan still needed finding.

The first 8 moves for White are automatic. After Black’s 8 … a5 , White’s 9. b5 is more or less forced. The transition for White is at 10. c4 dxc4 11. Nxc4 choosing activity and balance and requiring foresight with regard to the weakness of the square b6 and themes unheard in the actual game involving a possible White Nf3-g5 in the likely event the White queen arrives on the b1-h7 diagonal.
