Kasparov Claims Rating Inflation

It’s good to see that someone finally agreed with me that there’s been a lot of inflation in the rating system. What’s less clear is why he didn’t say something when his own rating surpassed Fischer’s.

Perhaps the answer to this mystery is that when someone’s status is favored by inflation they won’t particularly want to talk about it. But as we get older and it causes our status to suffer it might become tempting to say something.

Of course one may also choose not to take these numbers quite so seriously, not least because rating angst is a terrible source of misery. So let’s lighten the moment with a discussion of inflation by Donald Duck’s nephews:
