Blitz, Good Or Bad?

I often get asked if blitz chess is good or bad for your overall game. My answer? It depends!

On the one hand it can provide a lot of ‘experience’ in a short period of time, on the other it can cultivate skills (e.g. finding second best moves quickly) that are not necessarily appropriate for longer play games.

So used responsibly it can have its place in an improvement plan. But addicts should beware!
